COVID-19 Vaccinations

Getting your COVID-19 vaccine remains the best way to keep yourself safe from serious illness caused by COVID-19.

Stay Protected with your COVID-19 Vaccination

Here's why it's important to stay vaccinated:

  • Preventing severe illness: Vaccines are your best protection against severe illness, hospitalisation, and death from COVID-19.

  • Protection for everyone: Vaccinations are particularly important for those aged 75 years and over or those with severe immunocompromise that increase their risk of severe COVID-19.

  • Keeping your guard up: Protection from COVID-19 wanes over time. Regular vaccinations, tailored to your age and health needs, ensure ongoing protection.

Your COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster Eligibility

Protect yourself by getting your COVID-19 vaccine from your doctor. Not sure if you're eligible for a booster shot? You can use the COVID-19 Booster Eligibility Checker to find out. Staying up-to-date with your vaccinations can significantly reduce your risk of severe illness and hospitalisation. The booster shots are also designed to fight off the latest virus strains, giving you an extra layer of protection.

Before Your COVID-19 Vaccination

If you have any health conditions, allergies, or are on any medications, please inform your doctor before receiving the vaccine. If you're feeling anxious or have any questions, don't hesitate to discuss them with your doctor. For your convenience, you may choose to wear a short-sleeved shirt to allow easy access to your upper arm. If you're feeling unwell on the day of your appointment, it's best to reschedule until you're feeling better.

  • You will be monitored for at least 15 minutes after your vaccination.

  • Most side effects are mild and typically disappear within a few days.

  • Seek medical attention if you experience any more serious side effects (in an emergency, call 000).

  • Your COVID-19 vaccination status will be recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register.

  • Access your vaccination status online through your Medicare, MyGov, or MyHealthRecord account.
